My name is Daniel Wang, a junior at CMC dual majoring in Economics and Data Science with a sequence in Financial Economics. My introduction to entrepreneurship and technology began when I was a Sales Operations Intern for Ayla Networks, an internet-of-things platform-as-a-service company in Silicon Valley. However, after exploring some other academic and career interests in religious studies, industrial services, and the political economy, I found my passion for the financing of sustainable technology solutions after interning at a venture capital firm with investment focuses on critical components, digital transformation, and health technology. As a result, my near future is focused on clean technology. Today, I am working part-time at a renewable energy company as a Business Development and Finance Intern, and next summer, I will be working at Nomura Greentech, a subsidiary of Nomura that focuses on M&A deals in the sustainable technology infrastructure spaces. Some specific interests are in electric vehicles, industrial software, and energy storage infrastructure. Overall, my long-term goals are in corporate development or venture capital. Despite my experience in sustainable tech, I still have a strong interest in exploring a broader technology investment banking experience and in other sub sectors like payments technology, internet and consumer software, and enterprise software.
